Branch A: The admission requirements are a bachelor degree in dramaturgy consisting of 2 years of drama studies and one subsequent year or a bachelor degree consisting of two years of different studies and supplementary subject in Communication as theatre or a bachelor degree consisting of two years of a different study within the disciplines of upper secondary school and a subsidiary subject in dramaturgy.
Students with individual supplementary subject can apply for exemption for the admission requirements.
Branch B: The admission requirements are a bachelor degree with dramaturgy as the main study and with subsidiary subject in a different study within the disciplines of upper secondary school.
20. /21. century. Studies of periods and conventions in theatre (20 ECTS)
The aim of the course is to gain theoretical knowledge of modern theatre within the context of the contemporary history of theatre and in perspective of the contemporary frames of society.
Duration: 1 semester, autumn
Assessment: Written paper, elective subject, in groups 20 pages/participant, individual 30 pages
Professions and functions (10 ECTS)
The aim of the course is to introduce a variety of applications from dramaturgical theory and method to professions and functions in practice. The perspective of the course is to prepare the student to carry through a field study afterwards.
Duration: 1 semester, autumn
Assessment: Active participation/set written
Elective subject 1 (10 ECTS)
Elective subject 1 and 2 both take form as student seminars, the difference between the Elective subjects is the exam.
The seminar includes few lectures, a number of student presentations and collaborative work within research in dramaturgy and aesthetics, introduced by a specialist teacher. The exam in Elective subject 1 takes form as a seminar arranged by groups of students.
Duration: 1 semester, spring
Assesment: Oral, seminar
Field study (20 ECTS)
In field study the student makes observations in a free chosen branch. Through the observation process the student analyses how dramaturgical theory, methods and competences supports the specific practice and branch.
Duration: 1 semester, Branch A spring, Branch B autumn.
Assessment: Written, elective subject, in groups 20 pages/participant, individual 30 pages
Dramaturgy in Media (20 ECTS)
The aim of the discipline is to give the student elementary knowledge of how dramaturgical theory and analysis work in the media, primarily in films and TV.
Duration: 1 semester, autumn
Assessment: Written, elective subject, in groups 20 pages/participant, individual 30 pages
Elective subject 2 (10 ECTS)
Elective subject 1 and 2 take form as student seminars, the difference between the Elective subject 1 and 2 is the exam.
The seminar includes few lectures, a number of student presentations and collaborative work within research in dramaturgy and aesthetics, introduced by a specialist teacher.
Duration: 1 semester, autumn
Assessment: Written paper, elective subject, in groups 12 pages/participant, individual 15 pages
Practical training (10 ECTS)
After consultation with counsellor the student can be in practical training in an institution, an organisation or a company. There will be no courses to support the practical training. Practical training replaces Elective subject 1 or Elective subject 2.
Duration: 1 semester, autumn, the practical training lasts 4-6 weeks
Assessment: Written paper, elective subject, in groups 12 pages/participant, individual 15 pages
Thesis (30 ECTS)
Elective, selected after consultation with the supervisor within the study areas of dramaturgy.
Duration: 1 semester, autumn or spring.
Assessment: Written paper, elective subject, max 90 pages
